BACKGROUND:
My love for Zinfandel just keeps growing (this now being my 3rd Zinfandel from the region). Although European in origin, it has been used and appreciated for over 160 years in winemaking here, making it as close to an American variety as we can get. Genetically much older than newer so-called noble grapes, it has a tremendous ability to span stylistically, from small to big.

STYLE:
2023 was an almost perfect year for grape growing and in combination with 100% stem inclusion in this, it makes for a unique Zinfandel. Not many people do full stem or full whole cluster for Zinfandel, which is a mystery to me as it turned out so great. I’m very proud of this wine. The stems add that extra herbal depth of tannins that Zin so often needs to combat the fruit. You don’t want to miss this wine.

VINEYARD:
When I got the opportunity to lease and farm the small vineyard we now call Jacob’s Two Acres, I jumped at it. These own-rooted, wild, head trained vines were planted sometime in the 1960’s in Victor, CA. Lacking a traditional irrigation system, these wines have deep roots and have survived for many years on their own, making for very concentrated fruit.
